Claude Resources suspends gold mining due to wildfire in N. Saskatchewan

CALGARY – Claude Resources Inc. has suspending mining operations at its Seabee gold mine in northern Saskatchewan because of a nearby wildfire.

The company is taking steps to remove non-essential personnel as a forest fire some eight kilometres south of the mine threatens to bring heavy smoke and ash.

The company says mill production has so far not been affected thanks to stockpiled ore at the site.

Cameco Corp. and Areva Resources Canada confirmed last week that they had suspended uranium shipments from their northern Saskatchewan operations because of wildfires.

Both companies said mining operations weren’t affected.
