Watchdog investigating RCMP involved shooting in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS, B.C. – The civilian police watchdog is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead in Kamloops, B.C., late Friday night.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has deployed investigators to Kamloops following the shooting.
RCMP say in a news release that they were called to a report of a suspicious man in a subdivision of Kamloops at about 4:30 p.m.
They say there was a reported exchange of gunshots, and a man was found dead.
Investigators say no officers or any other members of the public were injured in the incident.
The release says the Independent Investigations Unit will check if there is any link between police actions and the man’s death.
