Reel Peach Fest film festival winners

PENTICTON – The winners from Reel Peach Fest film festival have been announced and the prize money handed out.

This year saw 39 entries to the film festival with is part of the Penticton Peach Festival. The one to three minute submissions were in two categories: Okanagan Experiences or Okanagan Liquid Libations.

Seven judges made the final decisions on Sunday, Aug. 7 at the end of Peach Fest, according to a media release.

First place prize of $1,000 in the Liquid Libations category went to Osoyoos Larose Winery produced by Shawn Talbot.

Fan Favourite and second place for the $500 prize went to Coconut Express produced by Martyn Lewis.

The third place prize of $250 went to Quidni Experience produced by Marty Gunderson.

In the Okanagan Experiences category first place prize of $1,000 went to Peach Please produced by Alec Simmons, Jack Hirchfield and Carolina Bevanda.

Fan Favourite and the second place prize of $500 each went to I Live Here produced by Shaun Kennedy.

The third place prize of $250 went to Golden Trails produced by Nic Collar.

Reel Peach Fest organizer, and Penticton Mayor, Andrew Jakubeit says he hopes to stage a workshop series next year to provide aspiring film producers with some basic skills and knowledge.

He says submissions increased over last year, but noted he’d like to see more “fun” oriented films and less of a “corporate feel” to some of the entries.
