Juno Awards to head to Ottawa in 2017 for 150th anniversary bash
OTTAWA – The Juno Awards are heading to Ottawa in 2017 to help celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary.
The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences says the special bash will help ring in the country’s sesquicentennial year by honouring the best in homegrown music.
The gala will take place April 2, 2017 and will be broadcast on CTV.
The Junos were last in Ottawa in 2012, when William Shatner hosted, Blue Rodeo was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and Feist was the big winner.
The next Juno Awards will be held in Calgary on April 3, 2016.
Ottawa is set to mark Canada’s 150th birthday with a yearlong series of special events and exhibits.
