Stomp grapes, fundraise, watch a sporting event or listen to all that jazz this weekend in Penticton

PENTICTON – It’s harvest time in the vineyards of the South Okanagan, which means there are celebrations of the grape taking place in the valley this weekend, along with music fundraising and sports events.

The Great Grape Lake Stomp takes place 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. There will be a live DJ, a barbecue, and beverages, with participating teams also getting dinner, a glass of wine and stomping rights. Cost is $70 inclusive for a team of four, entry is free for spectators.

The Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival takes place Friday, Sept. 9 through Sept. 11 with a line up featuring Tom Hook, Cornet Chop Suey, LeDixieband, Rossi Gang and more. Venues for the event take place at various locations in the city. Tickets are $60 on Friday, $75 on Saturday and $55 on Sunday. A three day pass is $110.

Ritchie Custom Homes in Penticton is partnering with wineries to present the Naramata Bench Charity Home Tour on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $75 and include a charitable tax receipt. All participants will be entered to win one of four prizes. All proceeds go to the hospital patient care tower.

On Sept. 11, join in BC SPCA’s Paws for a Cause walk to fight animal cruelty. Funds raised help rescue more than 27,000 animals and pay for 10,000 animal cruelty investigations annually. The event also hosts a barbecue, events for kids and a microchip clinic. Registration cost $20 for adults, $10 for youths.

The Penticton Dragon Boat Festival takes place along Skaha Lake Park Sept. 10 and Sept. 11, from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. It’s the 16th year for the annual festival which also features a beverage garden, vendors, food, and 2,500 athletes competing along the shoreline.
