NEW YORK, N.Y. – Earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos are on tap for Broadway as the spoof musical “Disaster!” aims for a winter arrival.
The show is based on 1970s disaster movies with a score consisting of that era’s pop, rock and disco songs. It will begin performances in February and open on March 8 at the Nederlander Theatre.
This version will star Tony Award-winners Roger Bart and Faith Prince; Tony nominees Kerry Butler, Kevin Chamberlin and Adam Pascal; Drama Desk winner Rachel York; and Drama Desk nominees Jennifer Simard, Max Crumm and Lacretta Nicole.
The show is written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, and directed by Plotnick. Rudetsky will also appear in the show, which spoofs “Earthquake” ”The Poseidon Adventure” and “The Swarm.”
The show debuted off-Broadway in 2012.
