Arts and Culture grant information workshops

KELOWNA – The City of Kelowna’s annual Arts and Culture grant information workshops will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Thursday, Oct. 13. Local, incorporated, non-profit organizations interested in applying for 2017 Arts and Culture General Operating or Project grants are invited to attend one of the free workshops.

“The City’s grant programs recognize and support the important work that non-profit organizations do in the community,” said Caroline Ivey, Cultural Services Coordinator. “The cultural grants sustain organizations and provide seed money for new projects; sometimes even a small grant can make a big difference. Grant writing can be a technical and sometimes overwhelming process. These workshops walk grant writers through that process, answer outstanding questions and help ensure the best possible submissions are brought forward.”

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017, additional incentive grants are available for cultural projects which reflect one of the City’s Canada 150 themes.

"The grant workshops that were provided by The City of Kelowna's Cultural Services were not only helpful, but instrumental in helping us navigate the funding process for project and operating grants,“ says Bonnie Gratz, Artistic Director and Producer for the New Vintage Theatre. “Being able to listen to and ask questions of friendly City of Kelowna staff helped buoy our confidence and gave us the knowledge to know we could apply and possibly even be successful."

Workshops will be held at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, located at 421 Cawston Ave.

Guidelines and applications are available online at the City of Kelowna online.

General Operation Program grant applications will be accepted until Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. and Professional Operating Grant applications will be accepted until Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. Grant funding will be confirmed for successful applicants in February 2017.
