26 die as truck carrying fireworks explodes on Chinese highway

BEIJING, China – Chinese state media say at least 26 people have died after a truck carrying fireworks exploded on a highway in central China.

China National Radio says the explosion Friday in Henan province destroyed a highway bridge high above the ground and that many trucks fell off the bridge after the explosion.

The report says parts of the bridge were blackened in the blast.
