Jets send forward Mark Scheifele back to Barrie for more seasoning

WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets are sending 19-year-old forward Mark Scheifele back to the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League for a little more seasoning.

Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff says he still has confidence in Scheifele.

He adds that he was a top performer with his junior club and will get a chance to continue his development with the Colts.

Scheifele, who was selected by the Jets with the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, did not record a point in four NHL games this season.

Cheveldayoff says he took the news that he was going back to junior like a professional.

The GM adds that the Jets are expecting defenceman Zach Bogosian to return soon after wrist surgery.
