TORONTO – Craig Ferguson is getting this year’s Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award at the Banff World Media Festival.

The late night talk show host says he’s “delighted” by the honour and jokes it “will surely end any doubt and self-loathing” he has.

The Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award recognizes “outstanding comedic contribution to the media industry.” Past winners include Ricky Gervais, Martin Short and Kelsey Grammer.

The prize will be presented at the festival’s awards gala in June. Also known as the Rockies, the bash celebrates the best in television and digital media.

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” won the prestigious Peabody Award in 2010.

Other celebs expected at the fest include “Arrested Development” star Will Arnett, “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and “The Good Wife” actress Christine Baranski, who will receive a lifetime achievement award.

Ferguson said Friday in a release that he was looking forward to the fest.

“I’m delighted to be receiving such a prestigious honour that will surely end any doubt and self-loathing that I have and compensate for a difficult childhood,” said Ferguson.

“If it doesn’t do that at least I get to visit beautiful Banff. Win-win.”

The festival runs June 9 to 12 in Banff, Alta.
