Kevin Youkilis out of Yankees’ lineup again because of back stiffness

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Kevin Youkilis is out of the New York Yankees’ lineup because of a bad back, one day after his return from a six-game layoff.

Youkilis played first base and was 0 for 3 with a walk in New York’s 5-4 win Saturday against Toronto. Yankees manager Joe Girardi decided not to start him in Sunday’s finale of the four-game series.

Girardi says that while Youkilis felt OK Saturday he suspects the infielder is now a “little stiff.” Girardi adds that this is a “little concerning” because he’s said along that “backs can be tricky.”
