Edmonton police arrest diving coach on sex-related charges
EDMONTON – Police in Edmonton have laid sex-related charges against a diving coach who trained Commonwealth Games and Olympic athletes.
Trevor Palmatier, who is 43, is accused of two counts of sexual exploitation and of procuring.
Police say he was arrested Wednesday on warrants issued by the Saanich Police Department in British Columbia.
Saanich police allege that Palmatier developed close personal relationships with his athletes while in his position as a diving coach.
They say a teenage male came forward with information that led to the charges.
The Edmonton Diving Academy’s website says Palmatier coached Blythe Hartley, former world champion and Commonwealth Games gold medal winner, in the mid 2000s and more recently 2012 Olympic diver Eric Sehn.
