Ransacked B.C. house looked like giant shook it for 10 minutes: RCMP officer

LANGLEY, B.C. – RCMP are asking for the public’s help in finding who was responsible for ransacking a Langley, B.C., home, stealing all the valuables and cutting down power lines to strip the copper wire.

Cpl. Holly Marks says about 30 metres of cable and ground service wire and all the visible copper pipes were robbed from inside and under the building.

She says an officer at the scene reported that the house belonging to a woman in her 80s looked like a giant had picked it up, shaken it for 10 minutes and put it back down.

Marks says everything including an electric motor from a garden chipper to a mahogany dining room table and chairs, a surveillance camera and a military uniform from the Second World War was stolen.

Police say the incident happened in late May or early June and that the house had been vacant for two years while the elderly woman was in a care home.

Marks says an associate of the homeowner discovered the mess while checking on the property and that volunteers from a local church are helping in the cleanup.
