Dark-web drug trafficker is sentenced in B.C. after being extradited from Germany

VICTORIA — A Victoria man who was recently extradited from Germany to face accusations of running a dark-web drug trafficking ring has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to five charges.

RCMP say 29-year-old Isaac Oliveira-Scott pleaded guilty last month to trafficking a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and three firearms offences.

Police say the investigation started in December 2022 when officers learned of a group distributing illegal drugs and counterfeit pills containing fentanyl across Canada by using cryptocurrency, the dark web, and Canada Post.

Oliveira-Scott was arrested in February 2024 after investigators seized stolen firearms, drugs, fraudulent identification documents and cash from a home in the Lower Mainland.

But Oliveira-Scott was released and then left Canada in May 2025 before charges were laid, resulting in a Canada-wide warrant and Interpol Red Notice.

He was arrested by German authorities this February and was extradited back to Canada on April 1, before being sentenced in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver.

RCMP federal policing spokesman Cpl. James Bennett said in April that the investigation was complex, as suspects hid their identities through the dark web.

Mounties say a second suspect, Treshaun Thompson, was charged in August 2025 but has been missing since he was last seen in Victoria the following month.
