Bombers and Alouettes meet in CFL season opener at Investors Group Field

WINNIPEG – New coach Dan Hawkins doesn’t buy the suggestion his Montreal Alouettes are more of a mystery than the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Bombers coach Tim Burke says with the change in the coaching staff in Montreal, the Bombers have no idea what to expect.

But Hawkins says neither team showed a lot in the pre-season so they’re in the same boat come game day.

The two teams play the CFL season opener in Winnipeg Thursday.

They have something in common besides a desire to get back into a Grey Cup game.

Both have quarterbacks who decided leaner is better, with Anthony Calvillo shedding the pounds a few years ago and Winnipeg’s Buck Pierce in the past off-season.
