Gord Bamford leads pack with seven CCMA award nominations; Brody has five

TORONTO – With seven nominations, Alberta singer Gord Bamford has taken the early lead at this year’s Canadian Country Music Association awards.

Not far behind with five nods is Nova Scotia-based Dean Brody, who took home some of last year’s top prizes including male artist of the year and album of the year.

The nomination announcement was made on Wednesday in Toronto, where nominees Autumn Hill and Emerson Drive also performed.

The two bands were also announced as two of the performers for the Sept. 8 award gala, as well as the Grammy-nominated Tennessee group the Band Perry.

The CCMAs, billed as the biggest night in Canadian country music, will be held at Rexall Place in Edmonton.

The ceremony will be broadcast on CBC-TV at 8 p.m. ET with encore performances on Country Music Television.
