Smoky skies alert removed for most of Southern Interior
Breathe a sigh of relief because the smoky skies have drifted away from most of the Southern Interior, however lingering wildfire smoke still remains in the North Thompson.
Today, July 24, officials at Environment Canada rolled back the special air quality statement for the South Thompson, Nicola, Okanagan Valley and Shuswap regions.
It's still in effect for the North Thompson, 100 Mile, North and South Cariboo and Chilcotin, according to forecasters.
Seniors, children and anyone with lung or heart diseases are especially at risk with during times of poor air quality.
