Police issue warning about possibly armed and dangerous Surrey man

VANCOUVER – Police have issued a public warning about a possibly armed and dangerous Surrey, B.C, man wanted on 19 firearms-related charges, including weapons trafficking.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit is searching for Marco Matias, who has a tattoo of his last name on his upper back.

Sgt. Lindsey Houghton says Matias has allegedly trafficked extremely dangerous weapons and police want him in custody before he can sell more.

Houghton says a police investigation into Matias starting in March led to ammunition and three firearms being seized.

He says police have made extensive efforts to locate the man and are now asking for the public to provide information on his whereabouts.

Houghton says anyone who sees Matias should maintain their distance and immediately call 911.
