Kelowna chosen to host Federal Liberal Party summer caucus meeting

KELOWNA – An Okanagan city has been chosen as the location for this year’s Liberal Party of Canada summer caucus meeting.

Chair of the National Liberal Caucus Francis Scarpaleggia says in a media release the meeting will be held Sept. 5, 6 and 7 in Kelowna.

He says the city is an ideal location for the National Liberal Caucus to gather in advance of the fall session of Parliament and discuss its economic agenda.

“The Okanagan has done a great job of diversifying its economy to include tourism, technology, agriculture, aerospace and academia. Our caucus is looking forward to learning more about the region’s success in these areas by speaking with local community members. This will also be an opportunity to show our support for residents and first responders in the British Columbia interior who have been battling ongoing devastating wildfires,” Scarpaleggia says in the release.

Kelowna-Lake Country MP Stephen Fuhr says he is greatly looking forward to welcoming the Prime Minister, the Cabinet and the entire National Liberal Caucus to the Okanagan this September.

“It will be an excellent opportunity for all my colleagues from across the country to engage with our community,” he says in the release.
