Toronto FC sees light at the end of the tunnel despite another disappointing year

TORONTO – It’s yet another year out of the playoffs but Toronto FC officials still saw plenty of positives as they held their end-of-season wrap session.

Manager Ryan Nelsen called the season both a roller-coaster ride and a learning experience.

But he maintains his 6-17-11 MLS team is now in a position to move forward given the flexibility of the team’s salary situation and the base of the roster.

Some big-ticket players are on the way out, in the form of striker Danny Koevermans, defender Richard Eckersley and goalkeeper Stefan Frei.

Toronto continues its search for marquee talent, with two star strikers atop its shopping list.
