Assault call at Kamloops city hall lands two people in cells to sober up

Officers called to a report of an assault in front of Kamloops city hall this past Sunday wound up seizing weapons and drugs, and arresting two inebriated individuals.

Police were called to city hall on Victoria Street West at around 5:30 p.m., July 14, where a man had been assaulted, according to an RCMP media release issued today, July 17. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Some of the people in the area were known to police and officers seized bear spray, a large knife, a replica firearm, brass knuckles, 15 grams of fentanyl and a a stolen electric scooter.

Two intoxicated men were arrested and taken to jail to sober up.

RCMP said the assault and drug trafficking investigations continue.

Anyone who witnessed the assault, or has information that may be related, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-22399.
