Oilers trade Omark to Sabres for conditional sixth-round draft pick

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers have traded winger Linus Omark to the Buffalo Sabres for a conditional sixth-round pick.

Omark has spent the vast majority of this season with Edmonton’s AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons. He played just 9:04 in one game for the Oilers on Nov. 7 and did not have a point.

A fourth-round pick in the 2007 draft, Omark spent parts of two seasons with the Oilers before leaving to play for Zug in Switzerland’s National League A.

In 66 career NHL games, Omark has eight goals and 22 assists. He has been a point-a-game player in the AHL this season.

Acquiring Omark is the first trade made by Pat LaFontaine since becoming president of hockey operations. LaFontaine is in the midst of interviewing general-manager candidates.
