Wounded Georgia officer undergoes 2nd surgery after shooting

MARIETTA, Ga. – Police say a Georgia officer who survived being shot was undergoing his second surgery, but hoped to soon be released from a hospital.

Marietta police said in a late Tuesday morning update that Marietta Officer Scott Davis was in surgery and hoped to leave the hospital Tuesday evening.

Police said Davis was shot in the leg early Sunday while responding to a call of people breaking into cars.

Police said one teen began shooting from inside a vehicle as officers approached. Davis was hit, and three officers returned fire, hitting one teen.

Marietta police Officer Brittany Wallace said both of the 15-year-old suspects are custody. Police said investigators determined the teens are gang members and will face charges under Georgia’s gang statute, as well as other charges.
