Francois Gendron, dean of Quebec’s national assembly, rushed to hospital

QUEBEC – The dean of Quebec’s national assembly has been rushed to hospital after falling ill during a cabinet meeting this morning.

Francois Gendron was transported to hospital in Quebec City after receiving first aid.

The 69-year-old Gendron has represented the northwestern Quebec riding of Abitibi-Ouest in the legislature since 1976.

As well as being deputy premier, Gendron is also agriculture, fisheries and food minister.
