HALIFAX – Children’s programming company DHX Media (TSX:DHX) says its net income jumped to $3.2 million in its fiscal second quarter, helped by an increase in licensing revenues.
The Halifax-based company said it earned three cents per share.
That’s up from $900,000 and EPS of a penny in the same quarter last year.
Revenues increased by 15 per cent to $30.4 million, up from $26.4 million year-over-year for DHX Media, which release its results after markets closed on Thursday.
DHX Media licenses and creates children’s programs such as “Caillou” and “Teletubbies” and last November it acquired the popular Family cable channel from Bell Media, a division of BCE Inc. (TSX:BCE).
The $170-million cash deal also included the Disney Junior channels in English and French and Disney XD.
