Lumby residents displaced after truck crashes into house
LUMBY – Police are investigating what went wrong when a truck drove into the front of a house Sunday evening.
Lumby fire chief Tony Clayton says a pickup truck veered off Vernon Street (Highway 6), blasted through a power pole and proceeded into a house.
Elderly residents were home at the time, and while shaken up, they suffered no major injuries. They have been put up in a motel by Emergency Social Services while their house undergoes an insurance assessment.
The driver appears to have suffered no serious injuries.
Vernon Street was closed for an hour and a half due to live power lines on the road.
Clayton estimates there were up to $20, 000 in damages.
RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of this incident.
