Frozen pipes leave hundreds without water, thousands of homes at risk

WINNIPEG – Hundreds of Winnipeg homes are without water, and they may be for weeks, because of frozen pipes.

Pat Dorman says her pipes thawed last week but now they’re frozen again.

Her home is at the bottom of a list of almost 900 waiting for the city to thaw their pipes.

Dorman says living in her house is like camping, as she and her husband make every drop of water count.

The city says almost 900 homes are without water and another 5,000 homes are at risk of having their pipes freeze up.

Around 1,000 city firefighters have been working around the clock, helping to deliver water to those in need and checking in on about 500 homes.
