John Horgan to clarify B.C. NDP leadership intentions at evening meeting

LANGFORD, B.C. – The lacklustre campaign for leadership of B.C.’s New Democratic Party could become a race by the end of the day.

Juan de Fuca MLA and NDP house leader John Horgan is expected to make an announcement at a 7 p.m. event at a middle school in Langford, west of Victoria.

Horgan said last year that he would not be a candidate in the contest to replace NDP Leader Adrian Dix, but has recently indicated that he is reconsidering.

So far, only finance critic and Port Coquitlam MLA Mike Farnworth has declared he will seek the party’s top job.

Farnworth finished second to Dix in the 2011 leadership race, while Horgan placed third.

The party’s new leader will be announced in Vancouver on Sept. 28. (CFAX)
