Cash accidentally donated to West Kelowna charity

WEST KELOWNA – Police are trying to unite some lost cash with its rightful owner after it was accidentally left inside clothing donated to a West Kelowna charity.

RCMP say back in June, a piece of clothing was dropped off at a local thrift store, along with some cash and an old bank card.

There was no name on the bank debit card and the financial institution that issued it was unable to identify the owner.

RCMP media liaison Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release investigators are hoping the owner will come forward.

“That person should be able to describe the donated clothing item to police, identify the total amount of cash they had left inside that item and confirm both the name of the financial institution, and the number of their expired bank card,” O’Donaghey says in the release.

Earlier this month, police found the rightful owner of a sizeable amount of cash found inside an item donated to a Kelowna charity.

If you think the money found in West Kelowna is yours call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 and cite file number 2018-36164.
