KAMLOOPS – Seniors are once again the target of the latest scam to hit Kamloops.
The RCMP is warning people to be careful when the person on the other end of the phone line claims they're a relative and needs money. Two different seniors were contacted this morning with the same scam. In both cases, the caller claimed to be a grandchild who was in a serious accident but hospitalized in a different province. They then stated they needed money wired for medical bills.
Neither senior gave the caller money and called police.
Mounties are urging the public to verify any suspicious phone calls they receive by calling the person back using the correct phone number from their own records or using a directory.
