Intoxicated Vernon teen caught with drugs, revolver and bullets

VERNON – A Vernon teenager spent Christmas with RCMP after getting caught with a 375 Magnum revolver and various drugs.

It was roughly 9:10 p.m. Dec. 25 and the intoxicated 16-year-old was creating quite a scene in the area of Highway 6 and Pottery Road.

“The man was walking in and out of traffic on the highway,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says.

A father and son driving by reported the man had a hand gun and was pulling it in and out of his coat pocket.

Police found the suspect in the ditch off Pottery Road and searched him. They found an unloaded 357 Magnum revolver in his front jacket pocket and bullets in another. The search also turned up crystal meth, crack cocaine in small baggies, some cash and a cell phone that continued to ring while police dealt with him.

The teen is set to appear in court Dec. 29 to answer to firearms and drug related charges.
