Penticton RCMP seek witnesses after cyclist struck by truck

Penticton RCMP are investigating following a hit and run involving a cyclist yesterday.

Police spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in a press release emergency crews were called to the alleyway off Winnipeg Street which parallels Wade Avenue at around 3:45 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 28, to find a cyclist who had been struck by a truck.

The victim was suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police a mid- to late-1990s burgundy and beige coloured truck with a 4X4 decal on the back and rear tinted windows could be heard revving loudly. The truck was seen driving away from the incident scene without waiting for emergency crews or police.

RCMP are reaching out for witnesses to the incident, as well as the driver of the truck to come forward.

Anyone who might have witnessed the collision or the driver involved is asked to contact Const. Caruso at the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300, quoting file 2019-19071, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
