UPDATE: Woman struck by vehicle at Kamloops crosswalk in critical but stable condition

An 18-year-old female was taken by ambulance to a local medical facility after being struck by a vehicle last night in Kamloops.

Police say last night, Dec. 5, at approximately 7 p.m. RCMP were called to a report of a pedestrian and motor vehicle incident at Aberdeen Drive and Van Horne Drive, according to an RCMP media release.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Mat Van Laer says the young woman is in critical but stable condition as of today, Dec. 6.

Police say the woman was attempting to cross in a crosswalk at Aberdeen Drive when she was struck. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police say.

RCMP are reminding pedestrians and drivers to be mindful of road conditions when using crosswalks to consider things such as lighting and wearing reflective clothing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
