VERNON – The driver of a Subaru who died in a crash yesterday on Highway 97 was a 64-year-old man from Lake Country.
The two men in a truck hit head-on near the Birnie Road turnoff were from Vernon. RCMP confirmed details about the crash today in a press release.
RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the man in the Subaru veered into the oncoming truck at about 2:30 p.m. He died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the truck were taken to hospital with 'undetermined injuries,' he said.
The road was shut down until 6:15 p.m.
North Okanagan Traffic Services and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating. An RCMP traffic analyst attended as well.
