Robertson, DeBrincat, Hughes named NHL’s three stars of the week

NEW YORK — Dallas Stars left-winger Jason Robertson, Detroit Red Wings right-winger Alex DeBrincat and Vancouver Canucks defenceman Quinn Hughes have been named the NHL’s three stars of the week.

Robertson, who had three points in each of his three contests, led the NHL with six goals and nine points to propel the Stars to a perfect week, extending their winning streak to five games dating to Nov. 8.

The 26-year-old, who is second on the Stars with 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 19 games, capped off the week with his sixth career hat trick in a 5-1 win over Philadelphia on Saturday.

DeBrincat finished second in the NHL with five goals in three appearances (5-1—6) to lift the Red Wings into second place in the Atlantic Division on the strength of a 2-0-1 week. DeBrincat also scored a league-best three power-play goals.

Hughes paced the NHL with seven assists in two games as the Canucks went 1-1-1 overall. He assisted on all three Vancouver goals in a 5-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.

After missing Thursday’s contest at Carolina due to injury, he registered his fourth career four-point performance with four helpers in a 6-2 comeback win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.
