A Kelowna man RCMP call a serial shoplifter is behind bars waiting for his next court appearance after he was arrested earlier this month.
Michael Dennison, who was born in 1991, appeared in court May 2 charged with possession of stolen property and driving a motor vehicle while disqualified, according to an RCMP media release issued today, May 11.
RCMP noticed a trend in shoplifting and on April 30 a suspect investigators believed was responsible for the thefts over several weeks was arrested by members of the detachment’s Target Team and released with a court date.
With a search warrant in hand, police search the suspect’s home and recovered stolen property.
The next day, officers located a stolen grey SUV outside a Lake Country motel.
“After parking the stolen SUV and entering a separate vehicle as a passenger, the driver of the stolen SUV was taken into custody,” RCMP said in the release.
“During the search of the subject as well as his effects, police located cash, suspected illicit drugs, and a replica firearm.”
After his May 2 court appearance, Dennison was remanded in custody and will be back in court, May 25.
