Northern MLA apologizes for missed meetings, plans to seek treatment

YELLOWKNIFE – An member of the legislature from the Northwest Territories is apologizing for his poor behaviour and for missing meetings.

Kevin Menicoche (‘MEHN-ih-cosh) says in a statement that he plans to address his personal problems and seek professional treatment, but does not specify for what.

The CBC has reported Menicoche and another MLA missed meetings in Inuvik last week because of excessive drinking.

Menicoche says he takes full responsibility for his behaviour and lack of judgment.

He says he regrets that he may have embarrassed his constituents.

He has also asked the legislative assembly to bill him for any extra costs related to the missed meetings.
