Argnonauts continue to deepen Canadian talent pool with signing of Cleyon Laing

WINNIPEG – General manager Jim Barker says the Toronto Argonauts have deepened their Canadian talent pool and continued that trend Wednesday with the signing of Cleyon Laing.

The defensive lineman was Toronto’s first pick last year in the CFL draft.

In a CFL conference call, team CEO Chris Rudge was talking dynasty after last year’s Grey Cup win and a lot of marketing success.

But coach Scott Milanovich says he’s ready to turn the page as they start preparing for the 2013 campaign.

While they will again rely on Ricky Ray as their starting quarterback, the Argos have added former Bomber Alex Brink to the backup pool.

He has more experience than their other young pivots he must compete with for the No. 2 spot, and general manager Barker says they want a backup who can win a Grey Cup if Ray should go down.
