ATM customers urged to remain vigilant after similar robberies in White Rock
WHITE ROCK, B.C. – Residents in White Rock, B.C., who use automated teller machines are being warned to take extra precautions in the wake of two very similar robberies.
RCMP in the suburban Vancouver municipality say a 63-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman report being robbed moments after they used ATMs at separate White Rock banks, within blocks of each other.
Both incident happened at around 9 p.m., and the victims report the suspect was carrying a black gun and concealing his face.
The first heist occurred Sunday at a Toronto Dominion Bank (in the 15100 block of North Bluff Road) and the second robbery took place on Tuesday evening at a Royal Bank (in the 15000 block of North Bluff Road.)
In each case, a police dog was unable to track a slim, 6’1″ suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, leading investigators to believe the man is escaping in a vehicle.
Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to contact White Rock RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
