Pedestrian killed by transit bus in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside

VANCOUVER – Vancouver police say a woman is dead after she was struck by a city transit bus in the city’s Downtown Eastside.

The collision happened Sunday evening on East Hastings Street near Main Street.

A news release says it appears the woman fell under the bus as it pulled away from the bus stop.

Initially, neither the bus driver nor the passengers on the bus noticed that someone had been hit.

Police say the bus driver stopped immediately upon learning a pedestrian had been struck and has been co-operating with the police.

Investigators have not yet been able to identify the woman.
