Falling metal kills pedestrian in downtown Montreal

MONTREAL – Montreal police say a 32-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck by falling metal on a downtown street.

Police spokeswoman Anie Lemieux says the man was walking this morning when he was struck by the plate from a nearby construction site.

He died in hospital.

Lemieux says the plate was being moved at the time and that the accident is being investigated by the province’s health and safety board.
