TORONTO – Former Ontario premier David Peterson is taking over as chair of the 2015 Pan American Games organizing committee.
He replaces Roger Garland, who has held the job since 2009.
Peterson, who served as premier between 1985 and 1990, was nominated to the position by Premier Kathleen Wynne.
Peterson was also the chair of Ontario’s bid to get the Games, which will be held in several communities across the province.
The Pan Am Games run from July 10 to 26, 2015. The Parapan Games are slated for Aug. 7-14.
