EDMONTON – A small dog is expected to survive after it was chopped and slashed while trying to put a big bite on some machete-wielding home invaders in Edmonton.
Police say four people forced their way into the northeast home Tuesday evening, slightly injuring a woman in her 30s with the big knife.
Her dog, described as a pitbull-type canine, then sprang at the intruders but was badly wounded by the machete.
The dog attack was still enough to frighten the invaders out of the home.
The pet was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic for surgery.
Two of the four suspects have been arrested and face charges that include animal cruelty, assault with a weapon and break and enter. (CHED)
