RCMP in Saskatchewan say no evidence of bullying in teen’s suicide

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – RCMP in Saskatchewan say they have found no evidence of any harassing or criminal behaviour in the death of a 15-year-old boy who committed suicide last September.

Mounties in North Battleford investigated allegations made by the boy’s mother that he was a victim of bullying.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay says police reviewed more than 16,000 text messages, several hundred images, Facebook messages and about 30 videos as part of the investigation.

RCMP did not name the teen in a news release, but Tremblay confirms that it was Todd Loik (LOYK), whose mother spoke out about his death in September.

Kim Loik said at the time that she told her son to ignore the bullies and the constant barrage of insults they were sending to him on Facebook and through texts on his cellphone.

She said on the night of Sept. 8, he received another taunt and the next morning, she found her son dead in their home in North Battleford.
