Metro Vancouver shooting spurs large police response in Maple Ridge, B.C.

MAPLE RIDGE — Police in Maple Ridge, B.C., say a man has been seriously injured in a shooting that resulted in an extensive police deployment, including a team dedicated to extreme danger or firearms cases.

RCMP say they were called to a report of shots fired outside a home near 216 Street and Lougheed Highway on Tuesday evening.

Investigators say a 32-year-old man was found at the scene with a gunshot wound and he has been hospitalized.

Police say officers had to clear out several properties near the scene during their response to the shooting.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Police say the attack may have involved people who are known to each other but gang or extortion links are unlikely.
