There was plenty of dirt and big air over the weekend at the Crankworx SilverStar Festival up at Destination SilverStar. The mountain bike festival hosted numerous competitions, including Pumptrack, Downhill, and Slopestyle competitions. Over the weekend, riders competed in the BC Cup, Canada Cup, UCI Downhill Continental Series, and the Slopestyle Super League.
The Slopestyle Super League drew fans in to watch as some of the top mountain biking competitors from around the world competed to earn the top placement at the competition and advance to the finals at Crankworx Mont-Sainte-Anne in Quebec on September 3.
Riders descended the hill, performing tricks over jumps and drops while trying to maintain speed and accuracy throughout the run. Judges would score based on the quantity, quality, and difficulty of tricks being performed, and riders were given two opportunities to try to get as high a score as they could. 7 Men and 3 women with the top scores would go on to the finals at Crankworx Mont-Sainte-Anne. Alma Wiggbergg of Sweden won first place for the women’s division with 84.00 points, and Ben Thompson from Squamish, B.C. won first place for the men’s division with 86.25 points.
