Investigators looking for tips year after Kamloops homicide

RCMP are asking the public for information as homicide investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old Kamloops man whose body was found inside a burning vehicle last year.

Dillen Bain was found dead inside a black 2019 Volkswagen Golf after Kamloops RCMP responded to a vehicle fire on Tranquille-Criss Creek Road at about 4 a.m. on Aug. 23, 2025. Initially, police released his image to the public as part of a missing person investigation.

Police believe the vehicle was intentionally set on fire after it was left along the service road.

Before the fire, the vehicle was seen travelling in Kamloops’ North Shore area accompanied by a blue vehicle.

The B.C. RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit is investigating Bain’s death as a homicide and is seeking information about what happened before the vehicle fire.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who saw Bain before the incident.
