The Penticton Dragon Boat Festival made waves over the weekend on Skaha Lake as teams from across BC and other parts of Canada and the US came together to compete in multiple races, including mixed and women’s divisions across 2 days. Currently in its 25th year, the event brings awareness and support for breast cancer awareness and has been a popular summer event in Penticton each year.
Teams composed of 20 paddlers, 1 steersperson, and a drummer took to Skaha Lake, competing in 4 lanes, with the best time increasing their standings and qualifying them higher in the competition.
Many teams celebrated the evening after the day’s races with drinks in the beer garden and good times dancing with a live DJ.
