Body of North Okanagan woman missing for a decade found

The body of a North Okanagan woman who has been missing for ten years has been found.

Deanna Mildred Wertz, 46, disappeared on July 22, 2016, becoming one of several woman missing in the North Okanagan at the time.

Her body was found by civilian dog trainers in the Yankee Flats Road in Salmon Arm on Saturday, Sept. 13, a thickly wooded area and the same area in which she was reported missing originally.

RCMP say criminality is not suspected in her death.

“This investigation has remained active for many years, and we recognize how difficult this has been for her family and those who knew and loved her,” Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.

“While this is not the outcome anyone had hoped for, we hope that finding Deanna brings some measure of closure and we extend our sincerest condolences to her family.” 

RCMP said no other information will be release out of respect for her family.
