KELOWNA – Three young students have been taken to hospital after they were hit by a car while walking to school in Rutland Wednesday morning.

The incident happened in the southbound lane of Gerstmar Road shortly before 9 a.m. The driver of the car is uninjured; however all three girls were taken to hospital.

Two of the girls are being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have determined that frost on the windshield of the car was likely a factor, but no charges have yet been laid.

The driver, a 28-year-old woman, could face potential charges of driving without due care under the Motor Vehicle Act.
